We have developed a tried and tested approach to school improvement. Each school in our trust is supported to improve, whatever their starting point.
Each member school maintains its own identity but works to ensure that the vision, values and purpose of our trust are at the core of its school improvement work. This means resources need to be flexible and deployed across all schools where necessary.
School improvement model
Our school improvement model provides ‘guidance’ for the trust's education team and as a result will direct school improvement. It is to be used intelligently, and not as a checklist of minimum operating standards. Our schools and education team will consider the quality of the six strands of improvement. We offer guidance and support within these key areas, in order to support, develop and challenge our schools to improve. The six key areas are:
- Leadership
- Quality of teaching
- Quality of curriculum
- Effective use of assessment
- Behaviour
- Accountability
School improvement cycle
We follow a cycle of school improvement. Every term, an audit meeting is held with each school to determine needs. These then inform planned actions for the term ahead. Resources are allocated and schools receive bespoke support, according to their needs. This work is reviewed and evaluated before a new audit takes place.
Each school is graded according to school improvement need and capacity to improve.
